Explorer and terminal,
in one window.

A Windows file manager with an integrated terminal, split views, and inline file editing. Built with Rust.

Hero video / screenshot Record a 10-15 second GIF or MP4 showing the full app in use: navigate folders → select files → open a terminal tab → run a command. Recommended: 1920×1080, dark theme, a real project folder open.

The core idea

Stop switching between Explorer and a terminal window.

NexPane puts your file system and shell side by side in the same window. Navigate to a folder, open a terminal there — no cd required.

Unified workspace video Record: browse to a project folder → click "New Terminal" → terminal opens in that directory → run a build command. Show the sidebar, file list, and terminal panel all visible at once.

Split views

Two folders. One window.

Split horizontally or vertically. Each pane has its own tabs and directory. Drag tabs between panes. Nest splits as deep as you want.

  • Independent tabs per pane — different folders, different view modes
  • Copy or move files between panes with drag and drop
  • Keyboard-driven — split, navigate, and close with shortcuts

Terminal video / GIF Record: open multiple terminal tabs (PowerShell + WSL), run a couple commands, show tab switching. ~5 seconds.

Integrated terminal

Your shell, built in.

Full terminal emulation with tabs. Opens in the current directory automatically. Pick your shell — PowerShell, CMD, WSL, or Bash.

  • Quick Actions — define per-folder shell commands, run them in one click
  • ANSI colors, link detection, search within output
  • Drop files onto the terminal to insert paths

Preview & edit

Preview anything. Edit text files inline.

Code with syntax highlighting via Monaco. Images with zoom and rotate. PDFs, video, 3D models, fonts, Markdown — all without leaving the app. One click to toggle edit mode on text files.
